The course teaches the fundamentals of grammar and vocabulary, along with specific expressions, so that students can communicate in Japanese naturally. In addition, students will learn about the Japanese mindset, traditions, and culture, in order to avoid misunderstandings (during a trip to Japan, for example)..
During the first semester, Japanese syllabaries will be presented. After that, the mostly commonly used Kanji (Chinese characters) will be learned.
In addition, the course prepares students for the first level (N5) of the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT).
